Our Story

Timing is everything! It can make a good joke great or ruin a birthday surprise. It doesn’t like to be rushed, which can leave you very frustrated. We hit that frustration a few times on this journey. But thru these delays, we were reminded that the end result is not nearly as important as the people you meet, the lessons you learn, and taking time to enjoy the gift of each new day and opportunity. In 2020, we found a trailer tall enough that Mark could stand up without hitting his head, did a lot of research, and started work at the beginning of 2021. In theory, we would be up and running by June even with some expected delays. Boy were we wrong! 12 months later after learning a lot about water tanks, rubber coin flooring, and electric vs propane water heaters, we are finally ready!

These delays have been frustrating, but a constant reminder of why we started this journey in the first place, to meet new people and build relationships with people we might not have otherwise known.  Mark and I both have backgrounds in the hospitality industry. Serving people is what we love to do. I have seen Mark sit out under a hot tent in the middle of July stirring kettle corn because he doesn’t want to miss the opportunity to meet people. Anyone who knows us well can tell you making food is our love language. So, when we began hearing and understanding the Swedish term Fika it hit home for us. Fika is about stopping and enjoying moments and taking time for the relationships each day, not just pushing through it. There was a wise king that wrote, “There is an appointed time for everything, and there is a time for every event under heaven”. It is our desire that Fika cup will provide a moment of time in your day where you can stop, breathe, enjoy a latte and muffin with friends.
